Sara Bro-Jorgensen

Sara Bro-Jorgensen graduated from the Royal College of Art Fashion MA in 2010 and was selected for the ITS9 Award. She also has substantial education and experience in knitwear, textiles and photography which she imbues into her practice as a fashion designer. Indeed, her work is very technique based demonstrated though intricate knits to jacquard patterns. This appreciation of craft is combined into a mix of traditional and modern and when married with a variety of quality fabrics the result is sensual and luxurious. These range from chunky knits, to ethereal sheers, which when layered together gives the depths and hues of a vintage photograph. The results are dreamy and haunting, verging on the gothic.

Sara is greatly influenced by the 2D imagery of black and white photography, citing Lee Miller and David lynch among her muses. She shows limitless possibilities through tone and repetition of imagery inspired by buildings and graphic patterns. Bro-Jorgensen plays with 2D and 3D using trompe-l’oeil, thus turning her clothes into vessels to question and abstract what is real and what is not through the lense of a camera.
