The 1975 - The City

I art directed this music promo for The 1975's single 'The City'.

In terms of art department my task was relatively straight forward. I laid a black carpet and sourced a decent projector and well as chiffon and costumes for the cast.

I had more contact with the cast then I normally do because I styled their costumes and experimented with different techniques to create the effect of chiffon flying out from the hoodie.

I am really excited to be art directing a fashion promo for ethical designer, Livia Henne's label Komana.

An exceptionally unique and strong identity permeates through each piece of this collection making it instantly recognisable as Komana. Livia achieve this with bold, painterly monochrome designs that celebrate primitivism and the many artists who have revelled in its qualities. This aesthetic is contrasted with notions of surrealism and peculiar Victorian illustration, which is altogether an eclectic and inspiring mix.

The range includes key wardrobe elements such as leggings and t-shirts as well as homeware items such as cushions, which are transformed by Livia's hand printed iconic designs into statement designer pieces.

At the heart of these expressive and unbridled designs is Livia's passion for humanity demonstrated by her commitment to organic and fairtrade materials and processes.

I already have my eye on several pieces including the mask cushion, the patchwork leather bucket bag and the disco cape!

Humbug Screening

I worked in the art department for this short film.

Mind's Eye and Creature of London present HUMBUG, shot in a day with a 2 week turnaround. Synopsis: Wilf had a pet pig named humbug, they were inseparable...until yesterday, there was an accident with the Eggman's dog and Humbug was no more...

Director Vicky Mather was given the brief of 'Stripes' and this little film was the response. Humbug was shot in one day and, in its entirety, including idea conception, had a two week turnaround and a teeny tiny budget.

Screening as part of Pattern Power / Superstripe: A cultural festival of pattern exploration taking place at the Londonewcastle project space 6th-21st April 2013.

For those of you that don't know, a Humbug is a British boiled sweet with stripes across it.
