I don't know if its because I grew up by the sea but I don't like being too far away from water but in the middle of Siberia you are probably as far away from the sea as possible. I went on a couple of road trips and driving from one city to the next - you literally don't see life for hours; just endless, endless land. I've never seen landscape as vast as the sea before and it made me feel a little nauseas, or claustrophobic even. However, Russia is full of beautiful giant rivers and lakes and I really appreciated them and the largest lake in Russia (the largest freshwater lake in the world, in fact), is Lake Baikal. But alas, I never went: It was a three day train journey and I had to work... I will get there one day.
